I was automatically upgraded to FF 10.0 this morning. And all day, when I click in a text box on a site, the address bar drops down like i am typing in it. This has happened on Facebook and CNN to name a couple. Another thing is that hitting enter in a text box was also not working. This happened when doing a search on Facebook (after blindly typing in the search box that was hidden by the address bar dropping down,) and then trying to enter info in the filter text box after the search. Also, when trying to type in the address bar or highlight text there, there have been times when neither has worked. I have started FF in safe mode and am still seeing this behavior. This is aggravating enough that I have been using IE most of the day....What did you do??

Perform the suggestions mentioned in the following articles:

Check and tell if its working.

May not be related to your problem but some of your Firefox Plugins are out-dated

  • Update All your Firefox Plugins -> https://www.mozilla.org/en-US/plugincheck/
  • When Downloading Plugins Update setup files, Remove Checkmark from Downloading other Optional Softwares with your Plugins (e.g. Toolbars, McAfee, Google Chrome, etc.)

I did all of the above and unfortunately it's still happening. It's gotten to the point where the browser is basically unusable, though I keep trying. It's not letting the text boxes work correctly. I have tried to enter info on two different sites where I have to keep clicking into the text box, and if it does let me type in there it's not recognizing it and even shows my password when I type it in. I have then been locked out of two sites because FF was not handling the text boxes correctly. Looks like I'll be going down to 3.6. UGH.

That's not this issue I am having, unfortunately. After doing some more digging I found other people are having this problem here:

And there is another thread referenced:

Create a New Profile as a test to check if your current profile is causing the problems.

IF that New Profile works then you can recover your History, Bookmarks and Passwords from the Old Profile.

Check and tell if its working.

Created a new profile and still have the same problem. The only workaround I found that works is in the thread here:

Where someone mentions alt-tabbing to a new application and then coming back to FF and I can get into the text boxes. And like the others in that thread, I can replicate this at will by going to a page with a java app running first then going to a new page with a text box on it. Since I have a page open all day that has a java app running, this is a problem.
