Gmail just updated to the new look but most of the buttons don't appear using firefox 8. What's wrong?

Most of the buttons and other images don't work in Gmail (this includes images in emails). I've recently updated to Firefox 8. Also, for google image searches all I get are grey boxes for anything past the first page of results. These problems started after updating to firefox 8, before that all was well. What's the problem?

P.s. I'm a bit of a noob when it comes to computer jargon. Plain english please.

Make sure that you allow pages to choose their colors and that you haven't enabled High Contrast in the Accessibility settings.

  • Tools > Options > Content : Fonts & Colors > Colors : [X] "Allow pages to choose their own colors, instead of my selections above"

Start Firefox in Diagnose Firefox issues using Troubleshoot Mode to check if one of the extensions or if hardware acceleration is causing the problem (switch to the DEFAULT theme: Firefox (Tools) > Add-ons > Appearance/Themes).
