FireFox will not restart after downloading 3.6.12
A few minutes ago, I downloaded 3.6.12 ...when I tried to restart FireFox, I got the error "The application was unable to start correctly (0xc0000056). Click OK to close the application."
Later: Restarting the computer allowed FireFox to restart, but it immediately closed without loading all of the tabs. I had to restart the session to get it to stay on.
Then, it gave an "unable to update FireFox" error, and, in Help, the update selection seems to be perpetually loading.

Run the Firefox program once as Administrator (right-click: Run as Administrator).
If that doesn't help then do a clean reinstall.
- Download a fresh Firefox copy from http://www.mozilla.com/firefox/all.html and save the file to the desktop.
- Uninstall your current Firefox version and remove the Firefox program folder before installing that copy of the Firefox installer.
- Don't remove personal data when uninstalling.
- It is important to delete the Firefox program folder to remove all the files and make sure that there are no problems with files that were leftover after uninstalling.
Your bookmarks and other profile data are stored elsewhere (not in the Firefox program folder) and won't be affected by a reinstall, but make sure that you do not select to remove personal data if you uninstall Firefox.

Running as Administrator did the trick. I'll add that to my list of things-to-try-before-I-yell-for-help.
Thanks!
Actually, it didn't do the trick ... the error window was hidden behind the browser (might I suggest that FireFox error windows be given "Always on Top" status?)
AND, I cannot uninstall FireFox. When I try, I get an error that says, "It may have already been uninstalled."
More suggestions??
Here's a new twist: when I try the URL http://translate.google.com FireFox exits!
Okay, problem now apparently solved. I had to use IE (because FireFox would shut down every time I tried to click on Revo's web site) to download and install the free version of Revo Uninstaller so that I could uninstall FireFox 3.6.11. Then, I downloaded and installed FireFox 3.6.12.
