Hello,

I am unable to login into my account because I don't have access to my 2FA device and I didn't receive the codes at that time (probably a timeout but I can't say for sure). I am trying to find the support email so that I can ask them to delete the information associated with *that* email address. Every time I try to access some link that resembles contact information, I somehow end up in this support portal. [email protected] doesn't seem to work. Any advice?

Thanks

Unfortunately if you lost access to the 2FA or primary email account registered for Firefox you can't delete or access it. Firefox can't help with this issue as this is a forum only help. Only way to delete is to be able to login to that account and go to preferences to delete/remove the account. Beyond not getting the reset or email codes that becomes a Lost account.

Yeah, it was stated on the FAQ as well. That's why I was asking if there is any page with actual Firefox support address/phone/email (not DIY/community support) because I thought that situations where 'we can't remove this email address from our system' are exceptionally rare, even when that data is encrypted, since they wouldn't be able to legally operate in some jurisdictions if that were the case. I can request password reset, I can even change the password, but that doesn't help me get past 2FA which is mandatory for me to be able to access the profile deletion myself, as a user. And it's a great thing I can't get past 2FA but not that great that there is no mechanism in place that allows me to delete such info on request and start over. I shouldn't be punished for the fact that between the step where you setup a valid 2FA+hit OK/submit until the step where you receive the decision to copy/print/email the recovery codes -> a failure point existed that makes that decision not to load and subsequently impossible for a user to recover his/her account (as it were my case). The user should be forced to validate that they received the recovery codes (but maybe meanwhile this is actually the case as I haven't created a new account yet). On the other hand I understand that email confirmation cannot be trusted by itself as a source of truth because one can't know if I am who I say I am or if I somehow hijacked that address and pretends to be me in order to access other services, the only source of truth here being the Authenticator application itself.

In the end, even if I miraculously find a contact for my problem, I still face the underlaying issue of proving that I am who I say I am (other than via email). I thought that maybe it matters less if I'm trying to remove my email from the system instead of recovering an account (two different things) but it seems not to be the case (it's just as important). Meanwhile I've seen that many others faced this issue and there's nothing to be done, understandably. My hopes were pretty low for my situation and I appreciate all the time taken to read this stuff and leave a reply.

Thanks, Feda
