I did a clean install for my PC, Installed Thunderbird, added my mail account, checked "save in manager" after entering my password. After restarting the prompt keeps appearing after starting. The Password Manager has no saveds passwords.

I tried deleting cert9 and key4 and session.json, none of those helped.

perhaps dete the password files from Thunderbird profile and see if that helps. (sometime they get corrupted. ) Of late there are lots of folk updating for older version and skipping V68 which modified the store. Result is some sort of corruption just like you are talking about nothing saves.

First try it the way described here https://bugzilla.mozilla.org/show_bug.cgi?id=1768542#c6

If that does not work try deleting the logins and key4 files she excluded.

Do you have an antivirus that offers a password vault feature? or third part software?

I do but i want to keep mail and the rest of my passwords seperate. I am looking for a solution in Thunderbird itself, before reinstalling windows the password was being kept safely.

I would suggest checking the product with the password vault and see if it is helping itself to your passwords.

Even if the program is not running in any way, the passwords are not being saved.
