W7 HP 64B. After the recent v89 update I have to ask, "why" ? Why change to wire icons ? Why not give me that option instead of you forcing it ? Why make themes when they don't change to what I want ? Why make the margin at the top of the screen larger ? Why should I have to try and "about:config: , to change something back ? Why are you not aware of the people you are forcing to use Chrome ? Who are you taking "MY CHOICES" away ? Are you demonicrats ? Why should I continue to use FF, when you have no answers, just rhetoric ?

I have these problems too. The icons are so small now and they are almost off the bottom of the page. Why do this to us? I spent an hour this morning trying to resolve. Please give me options. I would like my large icons back. I'm not a computer programmer and i don't want to go into config to try to figure it out. I've been a Firefox supporter for a long time. It feels like kids just took over and at some point, people will realize that many of us have vision problems and we rely on large font and icons. Thanks.

Jenny, I guess the support staff have no answers for us, and for the many others who posted the same problem under different questions.

Hi,

I appreciate your feedback on the recently redesigned Firefox browser.

We set out in 2021 to reimagine Firefox's design to be fast, modern and inviting. With the latest 89 release, we’re bringing you a modern new look designed to streamline and calm things down so you have a fresh new web experience every time you use Firefox.

Seburo,

Not everyone likes what you call "a modern new look". What does "calm things down even mean?"

This "new web experience" is a joke. You failed miserably ! You didn't even address the questions seriously. You just spewed some rhetoric as I stated would happen. You have offered no assistance whatsoever.

The icons were previously of a wire design

You can change the theme to one of the included themes, or download a theme of your choice or even you own design from https://addons.mozilla.org.

Starting in Firefox 89, Compact Mode is no longer supported. If you've been using Compact Mode on a previous version, you should be able to retain the feature. However, for the best experience, we encourage you to use the default Density setting.

If you are an advanced user, it's still possible to activate it in the Configuration Editor (about:config page).

  1. Type about:config in the address bar and press Return. A warning page may appear. Click Accept the Risk and Continue to go to the about:config page.
  2. Find the browser.compactmode.show preference.
  3. Switch the toggle to true and then close the tab.
  4. Click on the menu button fx89menu to open the menu panel.
  5. Click More Tools menu.
  6. Choose Customize Toolbar.
  7. At the bottom of the panel, click the Density button.
  8. Choose Compact (not supported) from the menu options.
  9. Click Done.

You do not have to use about:config, in fact unless you are very confident of what you are doing, I recommend that you keep well clear. Firefox works perfectly well as a web browser without changing those settings.

Seburo, I was not using "compact mode". The icons in v88 and previously, specifically the ones in the bookmarks menu were yellow folders, not wire ones. In addition the margin space at the top, where there are now "floating tabs, was a good bit smaller, thinner. I suppose I should thank you for at least responding, even if doesn't address my concerns. In addition, I could try and find a sheet that explains what each line item does in the configuration editor, but that's not my job. However it will probably be removed in the next version update, so the point is moot. As I do understand you are a contributor please pass along the dissatisfaction that I, and if you look at other questions, and other are experiencing.

On my big monitor, the bottom row icons are nearly off the screen. Not only did i like them larger, at least the option, having them dangle at the bottom is annoying. I'm guessing everyone's looks this bad. Attached.

Jenny, What is your webpage home ? I do not have pinned bookmarks on my home page.
