How do I make Firefox's back button go back on Bing rather than refreshing the search results?
Is there anything I can do to make the back button go back rather than refresh on Bing search results? I'm guessing it's something internal to Bing since it doesn't happen with Google searches, but I didn't have this problem when I used Chrome. If they found a way to fix the issue, I'm hoping you have one too.

Some people have reported similar issues with Bing News, especially if they are logged in. Whenever you load Bing, it seems to load the page and then automatically reload the page, creating two identical items in your history. Then, when you press the back button, it goes back to the first copy of the page you were already on and then reloads again. This makes it hard to go back to the previous page on Bing.
This appears to be an internal issue with the way that the Bing website runs. A workaround would be to press and hold the back button and then select the page you want to go back to via the dropdown menu that appears.
Hope this helps.
I get around this by; When I find a link I want to check out, I open it in a new tab/window. Then when I am done, I close it and am back where I started.
To Wesley: I'm trying to get around the (minimally) time-consuming process of having to right-click or hold down the back button in order to get to the history list. I just want to click back and go back. For Bing, apparently, that's too much to ask. And I don't understand why it's a problem in Firefox but not Chrome or Safari. But there we are. And to Fred: Unfortunately it's the search-results page itself that's reloading when I click the back button. But thanks to both of you for offering up possible solutions!

Hello dannnidi,
You're right : the back button should work when using Bing search, just like it works with other browsers.
If you want to, you could file a bug report :

Our of curiosity, are you logged into Bing on Firefox?
I am logged into Bing on Firefox.
And McCoy, thanks for the bug link.
Did you check the tab history in the B/F button drop-down list just to be sure that this isn't caused by multiple entries?
This can possibly happen if the page isn't in the cache or if there is POST data involved (GET data (?xxx) is less likely to cause this).
Start Firefox in Safe Mode to check if one of the extensions ("3-bar" menu button or Tools -> Add-ons -> Extensions) or if hardware acceleration is causing the problem.
- switch to the DEFAULT theme: "3-bar" menu button or Tools -> Add-ons -> Themes
- do NOT click the "Refresh Firefox" button on the Safe Mode start window
