I added a new email account in which the inbox messages disappear! Why is this happening and where are the emails going?

I have used Thunderbird for some time with no major problems. A few weeks ago I set up a new email account, all of the accounts are with the same provider/sever. The first five accounts all have the following folders Inbox, Drafts, Sent and Trash. The new account has Inbox and in that folder is Draft, Outbox, Quarantaine and Trash. The problem I am having is that any emails that arrive in the last account's Inbox disappear!! They are not in any of the other folders. So why are they disappearing and where are they going?

It sounds like all of these are pop mail accounts.

As this has same provider/server...it sounds like this one is an imap mail account. So it shows what is on server.

Do you have a pop mail account or phone accessing the same email address as the new imap account? If yes, then it is likely the pop mail account is downloading emails off server and the option to keep messages on server is not selected. Hence imap account cannot see what does not exist.

Have you logged on to the webmaiil account using a browser to see if the Inbox emails have been moved to a different folder which you have not subscribed to see?
