Hello!

I recently had to switch from an Android phone to IOS, and now I have a problem/annoyance that I never had before.

In Android, I was able to set up Firefox such that whenever I closed the browser it would also close any active tabs. Reopening the browser would then put me to a fresh screen where I could start searching for stuff.

On IOS, the behavior is annoyingly different - closing a session saves all your tabs (even In-Private tabs!!). Not only does this slow things down (have to wait for previous pages that I don't want anymore to load before I can do something) but it could also result in someone else seeing something they weren't supposed to see - i.e. close the browser, give the phone to a friend a day later, they open Firefox and see exactly what you were looking at earlier. Both Chrome and Safari also have the same behavior, which is colossally stupid, and which is why I don't just use them instead.

This should be fixed, but if it can't be at least give users the ability to select what should open upon opening Firefox (i.e. a new tab, home screen, a specific website, etc). I can't believe that this isn't an option on the IOS version.

Thanks in advance!

Hi, I don't think there is a way to automatically close tabs when leaving the app. You can send an email to [email protected] to submit a request where our engineers can review it.

For now, you can clear them manually is you tap-and-hold the trash icon. For instructions, see Use tabs in Firefox for iOS.
