thunderbird corrupt after windows update failure
my desktop computer tried to install a windows update this morning, during the process everything froze and we had to unplug the computer in order to reboot. when everything came back up the thunderbird icon was showing as a generic icon instead of the logo and when you click into order to choose a profile there's an error message stating that thunderbird exe is corrupt. (we've used thunderbird for years with no problem, this wasn't a new thunderbird download or update.) i was able to troubleshoot the issue with the windows download and complete the update but thunderbird is still showing as the generic icon and clicking it brings the message it is corrupt. we have 4 thunderbird profiles and all have emails we'd rather not lose. is there anything i can do to recover the program? is downloading again my only option? if i download again will i be able to access the old emails? any help would be appreciated. thanks.

Your Thunderbird data is stored in your profile and is separate from the program. Reinstall Thunderbird. Then I suggest you start backing up your Thunderbird profile. https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/kb/profiles-where-thunderbird-stores-user-data

Thank you, that worked.
