Using this version of Firefox is like going back to dial-up

I hate the new version of Firefox. It's like going back to dial-up. In fact, for the longest time, I thought there was something wrong with my internet connection. Then, when I tried using Chrome instead, the pages loaded instantly and always worked. Firefox slows my computer to a crawl, opens up 5 or 6 processes often using a total of 5 gigs with only 10 tabs open, freezes incessantly, crashes constantly, and Netflix and a host of other websites don't work anymore. Every single page, no matter how simple or complex, takes FOREVER to load. I'm sick of it. Can someone please tell me how to go back to a version that actually worked? It must have been from months and months ago, because I've been struggling with this problem since at least last fall. I've tried any number of "solutions" posted online, but now I just want to rollback to a previous version. Is there a way to do that without losing my bookmarks, add-ons and settings?

hi, could you go to the firefox menu ≡ > help ? > troubleshooting information, copy the contents of that page and paste them here into a reply on the forum (or if it's too long through a site like https://pastebin.mozilla.org/ and provide the link here)?

this might give us a clue what is going on. thank you!

thank you, we had recent similar reports from other users of avast security software on their system: https://bugzilla.mozilla.org/show_bug.cgi?id=1438829 can you see if you're fully updated there or else remove avast once for testing purposes?

So I've updated Avast. I don't see a difference yet, but maybe it's too early to tell...

make sure to reboot the system once after that.

So, an update on the situation. Whatever updating Avast did do (and I'm not really sure that it did anything, to be honest), it didn't fix the problems with Netflix and other websites that I now have to use another browser for. I'd rather go all or nothing with either browser, and I'd much prefer to use Firefox because it's what I've been using for years. Here's an example of a website that doesn't even show up in Firefox, but comes up instantly in Chrome: https://www.discountcar.com/

Would someone be able to tell me either how to fix this, or how to switch back to a previous version without losing all my settings and add-ons? At this point I would much prefer to rollback to the old version of Firefox.

This is still going on. Is it just me? Firefox is soooo slooooow.

Hi, try turning off Hardware Acceleration https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/kb/performance-settings Could you see if you have cleartype disabled in your Windows version and if so re-enable it. then try to run Firefox with hardware Acceleration.

Did you uninstall Avast as you were asked for testing and report back about the issue ?

Have you looked in the Avast Forum for other people with the issue ?
