why do the sites I visit vanish when I return later
When i am finished using Firefox, I leave the various tabs open on the sites I visited for use when I return. However, when I return, a blank page with a single tab awaits me. I find this quite annoying. If I want to close out before leaving, I will do it myself. Otherwise I want the tabs to remain on the websites I last looked at. Please advise me how to make Firefox accommodate me. Thank you.

Hello, you have to restore the previous session, follow these steps:
- Click the menu button Fx57Menu and choose Preferences.
- Select the General panel.
- In the When Firefox starts drop-down menu, select Show your windows and tabs from last time.
- Close the about:preferences page. Any changes you've made will automatically be saved.
In case you use "Clear history when Firefox closes" or otherwise clear history.
- do not clear the Browsing History
- Options/Preferences -> Privacy & Security -> Firefox will: "Use custom settings for history": [X] "Clear history when Firefox closes" -> Settings
- https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/kb/delete-browsing-search-download-history-firefox
- clearing "Site Preferences" clears exceptions for cookies, images, pop-up windows, and software installation and exception for password and other website specific data
- clearing "Cookies" will remove all selected cookies including cookies with an "Allow" exception you may want to keep
Make sure you quit Firefox with windows and tab you want to restore still open. If you first close all open windows on Mac, but still have Firefox running with the menu bar visible then it isn't possible to restore the tabs.
