I have v50 and it works. When Firefox auto updated yesterday it no longer ran. When I reinstalled v50 it ran again. In the interim I had scanned my computer for malware; no malware. I am convinced therefore that the problem lies with the upgrade rather than my system. Wouldn't you agree?

When it crashes error 0xc0000022 is shown.

I am using Webroot SecureAnywhere antivirus and Malwarebytes Anti-Malware. All software running does not interfere with Firefox v50.x.

can you install firefox 53 while you run windows 7 in safe mode? https://support.microsoft.com/help/17419/windows-7-advanced-startup-options-safe-mode

Sure I can install it in safe mode but it doesn't run no matter how I install it. My hypothesis is that the 64 bit version of Firefox is incompatible with Windows 7 and was probably only tested on Windows 10. i can install and run the 32 bit version of v.53.x on Windows 7 or I can try to use v50.x 64 bit without upgrades.

I had the same problem Akido a while back with the 64 bit version on Win 7 Pro 64 Bit and had to download the 32bit version of Firefox which is working fine now.
