Thunderbird and Gmail Labels not syncing as expected?
Hey folks, I'm looking to manage 2 additional email addresses through my gmail account and want to be able to send and receive from within Gmail to/from the specific addresses and manage all this via Thunderbird.
I have it set up as follows:
my@gmail account has [email protected] and [email protected] set up via "Accounts and import" tab in Gmail settings to both check email from and send mail as. For each account, I assign a label when the mail is retrieved so that mail to [email protected] and [email protected] go into their respective labels/folders. This isn't possible to do with sent mail, which isn't such a big deal, as I can still see which account sent the mail, but I'd like to be able to organise the inbox and subfolders of each account which labels seems to manage fine.
It seems to be half working, or at least working on Gmail, but when I try manage it all through Thunderbird, running 52.0.1 (32-bit) and having set up the Gmail account as instructed here: https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/kb/thunderbird-and-gmail#w_subscribing-to-folders-and-synchronizing-messages , the labels don't really seem to sync and if I send an email to [email protected], it appears in the Inbox, in "ALL Mail" and also under the label/folder of [email protected], and if I delete it from any of these places, the delete doesn't seem to be reflected in the other locations and the mail is still accessible from the other locations.
It will most likely get hugely confusing unless the action is reflected in each folder for each mail.
I've Googled for the same issue and see other people having what appears to be a similar issue here: https://superuser.com/questions/603362/how-to-make-thunderbird-play-nice-with-google-mail but it appears to have been solved since Thunderbird 38, but doesn't seem to be working as expected for me.
If anyone may be able to assist as to what I might be doing wrong I'd greatly appreciate it. I'm almost sure the account is set up as it should be as I followed the instructions, but maybe I'm missing something?

Hi. why don't you create two accounts instead, each on it's own "set of folders like this:
See attached image
Every red box is an account on it's own and with it's own folders.
Each sent and received message go to its account.
Under Server Settings click the Advanced button and set the IMAP Server Directory as shown in the other attachment

Thanks a lot for the reply. I think I've figured a work around for this issue and I now have the labels and syncing working relatively well. I ended up using some filters like this:
Matches: to:(info@*******.ie) Do this: Skip Inbox, Apply label "info@******.ie", Never send it to Spam, Never mark it as important
It seems to be working ok now and the labels get the mails as expected!
