ff 37 on windows

i want to move all disk cache to RAM

currently i'm using a RAM disk to do this, but i am unclear as to whether this is actually necessary with the newer FF versions and what some of the prefs should be set to

current settings:

browser.cache.disk.enable = true (since i'm using a RAM disk)

browser.cache.disk.parent_directory (points to the RAM disk obviously)

browser.cache.disk_cache_ssl = true

browser.cache.memory.enable = true (no idea what this should be when disk cache is in RAM)

browser.cache.memory.capacity = (unset)

network.http.use-cache = true

Q1: if i dump the RAM disk, can i still preserve and move all cache to ram and, if so, what should the browser.cache.memory.* prefs be set to?

Q2: if the RAM disk is still necessary to preserve the disk cache, what should browser.cache.memory.enable and network.http.use-cache be set to? i would rather combine the memory and disk cache in RAM if possible, but do not want to lose either.

Q3: i have read that disabling disk cache is a no-no as far as performance is concerned since the browser and/or plugins need to access some cache files by file name (such as Adobe PDF reader), but apparently this may have changed at some point - what is the status of this?

Q4: if disk cache is disabled and memory cache is limited to, say 200 MB, what happens when i load a 1 GB video?

Q5: what should browser.cache.memory.max_entry_size be set to?

UPDATE:

looks like i might have answered some of my own questions, but would still like confirmation and help with the above mentioned prefs

i set browser.cache.disk.enable = false and set a value in KB for browser.cache.memory.capacity

in about:cache for both mem and disk cache, i see "Storage disk location: none, only stored in memory" which seems to suggest that 1) no disk cache is lost by moving all cache to mem and 2) a RAM disk is no longer necessary with newer FF builds (what "newer" is i'm not sure)

You can set the location of the disk cache.

You can also look at the portable Firefox version that has the disk cache disabled by default.
