since upgrading to ver 11 flash player 11 disapears on reboot
Since upgrading to firefox 11 I have to reinstall adobe flash player 11 each time as it disappears when I reboot. But works fine otherwise. Also after downloading the download window stops responding. This is happening all the time lately.

Solved the problem I have now moved to Google crome that seems to work fine with flash. I do not have any more time to try and make firefox 11 work. Thanks all anyway.

Ok, let's try a few steps here: Please use the Flash Play Uninstaller located here: http://helpx.adobe.com/flash-player/kb/uninstall-flash-player-windows.html (if you have a 64 bit system, run both the 32 bit and the 64 bit versions).
Then, restart your computer. Download this file: http://fpdownload.macromedia.com/pub/flashplayer/current/licensing/win/install_flash_player_11_plugin_32bit.exe, run it (with all browsers and other windows closed).
Then, restart your PC one more time. Try opening up Firefox, does flash work properly now?
Which security software (firewall, anti-virus) do you have?
Some security software has virtualization features that can cause problems.
So far tried both uninstall and reinstall program recommended above with Microsoft essential virus software tuned off and flash player works fine until I reboot and disappears. So the above suggestions did not work. Also still getting "No response " (screen lightens up and locks up for a while. ) after trying to click on downloaded files. Since Firefox upgrade to ver 11 has become very flaky.
Click the Windows Start button, and type %APPDATA%\Mozilla\Firefox\Profiles\ in the search box at bottom of the Start menu, without pressing Enter.
A list of profiles will appear at the top of the Start menu. You can click on any of the profiles (e.g. xxxxxxxx.default) to open it with Windows Explorer.
Then, inside that profile (make sure flash is installed and you haven't restarted yet, delete "pluginreg.dat". Then open Firefox back up.
OK when I open xxxxx.default I do not see flash is there although I just ran the flash installer and it said it was successful.
Is the Flash plugin file NPSWF32.DLL still in this folder after a reboot?
- C:\Windows\System32\Macromed\Flash\
You haven't answered which security software (firewall and anti-virus software) you have installed, so could you please do that?
The only DLL file there is NPSWF32_11_2_202_228.dll before and after reboot.
From a few post back I am using Microsoft essentials virus software and the standard Microsoft firewall.

Did you delete pluginreg.dat inside your profile folder?
Yes I deleted pluginreg.dat still no flash on reboot. Can I go back to a previous version of Firefox that worked OK before ver 11 without losing my settings.

Hey guys, I had same problem, and it's all working now! :D I used this method to clean my PC from adobe flash player - http://helpx.adobe.com/flash-player/kb/uninstall-flash-player-windows.html (turn off all programs). After that go to Programs and features and turn off Internet Explorer, I have also disabled that Download & Record in RealPlayer options and after I've done that I restarted my PC.
When PC turns on, download fresh copy of Mozilla. Go to http://get.adobe.com/flashplayer/otherversions/ to choose OS and version. Install flash player from downloaded file, put that Automatic update on Notify me when update is available (or whtvr it writes). After it installs, reboot your PC and check if it works.
I hope this will help someone. :)
This is an old thread, insofar as there are current problems with FlashPlayer 11.3 RealPlayer and Firefox13 and the solutions and advice has been changing on almost a daily basis. Developers from Flash and Firefox have been working on this.
For current information have a look at the latest version of this article:
- Adobe Flash plugin has crashed - Prevent it from happening again it will likely have useful linked information on issues besides an actual crash
