Flash streamed via RTMP (using Flowplayer) does not work; does in IE 9.

I have the latest Flash plug-in and Firefox 6.0.2. Flash files from YouTube work. However, Flash in Flowplayer -- using RTMP streaming -- does not load.

The following page works with latest version of Flash in IE 9:

http://www.3xconversionformula.com/replay/short

However, it simply will not load in Firefox.

I do NOT have any ad blocking plugins, etc.

The Flowplayer page actually allows you to test HTTP vs RTMP vs no streaming and Firefox hangs on RTMP. So, I believe I have found out what the bug is for you, but updating Flash will not remedy the situation. It seems to be a Firefox problem.

The same problem is also seen with the Brightcove Flash player on the following page. These videos load and play fine in IE 9, but not Firefox 6.0.2:

You've ask this question before ([*]).

No problems here with that Flash player.

Start Firefox in Diagnose Firefox issues using Troubleshoot Mode to check if one of the extensions is causing the problem (switch to the DEFAULT theme: Firefox (Tools) > Add-ons > Appearance/Themes).

Also check any advanced settings in the firewall to make sure that is doesn't block Flash or ports needed for RTMP.

I've restarted Firefox 6 in Safe Mode, I've disabled ALL plug-ins and it still does not work when Shockwave Flash is the only plug-in enabled.

I don't use any theme, just the default theme.

Firewall works for same web page using IE 9.

See enclosed screenshot to see what it looks like in Firefox vs IE 9. So, same computer, same Internet, same firewall, same Flash plug-in, ... only Firefox can't play this. When visiting the Flowplayer website, their content works for HTTP streaming, no streaming, but not for RTMP streaming.

Anyhow, Safe Mode did not solve this problem.

I clear cache each and every day when I shut-down computer via Ccleaner.

I did go ahead and clear cache and that did not fix the problem either. The problem -- not all Flash playing -- has been happening with Firefox 6 and possibly 5 as well.

I downloaded the latest version of Flash (which sneaked in Google Chrome) and while I have never used Chrome, I went ahead and launched it for the 1st time ever, entered the 2 problematic Flash pages listed above -- and they both worked. So, I don't know what the issue is. I turned off ALL plug-in except Shockwave Flash, and it simply will not work.

I've turned on/off hardware acceleration, etc. Done everything suggested in support docs, but nothing seems to work outside of using another browser.

Create a New Profile as a test to check if your current profile is causing the problems.

-> Basic Troubleshooting: Make a New Profile

IF that New Profile works then you can recover your Bookmarks and Passwords from the Old Profile.

-> Recovering important data from an old profile

Check and tell if its working.

I created a new profile and relaunched Firefox. However, that too did not fix the problem. With the new profile, I made sure to have only Shockwave Flash plug-in installed, ... no special Themes, no other plug-in, no extensions, etc.

Thanks for the suggestion, but it did not work.

I didn't saw the video link you provided above in the Question, but now i checked and the video is playing fine on my system.

Did you check the setting in your firewall (security software) to be sure that it isn't blocking those ports?

AVG 9.0 is installed and the video (Flash in Flowplayer) works with IE 9 and Chrome.

Flash video works in Firefox, but not all Flash files. Flash in Firefox works with YouTube, Adobe's Flash website, and various other places, but not everywhere.

2 URL's are supplied above that contain Flash content that does not work with my Windows 7 (64-bit) Intel Core i7 Toshiba laptop with NVIDIA GeForce graphics card.

On the Flowplayer website -- someone who should know how to properly implement their player with Flash -- Flash does work with Firefox when HTTP and no streaming are used. However, nobody seems to note that this does not work for RTMP streaming.

So, Flash works -- sometimes -- but not all the time. However, the VERY same Flash files DO work on SAME laptop with SAME firewall and no problems with IE 9 and Chrome. Bottom line: RTMP streaming seems to be the issue with Firefox as pointed out on the following website:

http://flowplayer.org/setup/index.html

Attached images: 1. HTTP Streaming 2. RTMP Streaming - Faulty 3. No Streaming

NOTE: Website states, "RTMP The most advanced video streaming technology today."

The following 2 videos will not work with my Firefox:

http://www.3xconversionformula.com/replay/short -- uses Flowplayer as its Flash player.

http://www.schedulicity.com/Essentials/Video-Gallery.aspx -- uses Brightcove as its Flash player.

YouTube works. Also, the Brightcove website itself does work. So, its the implementation of Flash players -- not Flash itself -- that seems to be the problem. However, its not a problem with old versions of Firefox, nor IE 9 or Chrome.

All video links provided by you above (in your last reply and in the Question message) are working fine on my Windows XP Firefox 6.0.2. Maybe use these links for finding your missing plugins.

Is it only the Flash plugin that isn't working or do you have problems with other plugins as well?

more options

1. Flash does work 2. Some Flash content does not work

This is true when:

1. Flash is the only plug-in used 2. Flash and several other plug-ins are used

This is true when Hardware acceleration is:

1. On 2. Off

Once more, NOT all Flash content. Only SOME Flash content. Examples of pages that do NOT work have been provided, but here they are again:

http://www.3xconversionformula.com/replay/short -- uses Flowplayer as its Flash player.

http://www.schedulicity.com/Essentials/Video-Gallery.aspx -- uses Brightcove as its Flash player.

System Windows 7 (64-bit) Intel Core i7 NVIDIA GeForce GPU Firefox 6.0.2 Plug-in: Shockwave Flash 10.3.183.10 Appearance: Default

Also, have tried to create new profile, turned-on and off all plug-ins, extensions, etc and still have problem with SOME Flash content.

Thanks for everyone who has offered suggestions!

As stated before, it MAY be the streaming format (RTMP) that somehow Firefox can not deal with? IE 9 and Chrome work w/o any assistance -- which is annoying as I have used Firefox for several years (and originally used Netscape Navigator 1.0).
