When I go to edit>prefs>content>fonts+colours, advanced to choose a font, the lists seem to be quite limited. "proportional" has but two choices, the others all start at A.D. Mono, and, though Times is there, Arial is not.

Making a choice is not exactly easy, since we see just a list of font-names, not what the font looks like.

Where are the fonts picked up from? How would I install Arial if I need to?

But, to choose a font properly, I would want to see a full layout of every available character, plain & italic & bold, together with an example of text/ numbering to see how the spacing is in practice. (This would also be useful in identifying fonts where certain characters are missing.) Is ther such a facility?

I use my FF in Linux.

Thanks, cor-el

Super display of fonts at fileformat.info !

Why couldn't something like this be in the choose-default-font panel? Or at least a pointer to a utility like it, an " about:fonts "?

The remaining question: Where are the fonts picked up from? How would I install Arial if I need to?
