I can't restore bookmarks after reset

more options

I reset the laptop and lost the bookmarks. It originally reset to Edge but I downloaded Firefox. I have gone to the square of horizontal lines, clicked on Bookmarks, Manage Bookmarks, Import and Backup, Restore. The only date that shows is today's date. What else can I try?

Hi starfish3865, A bookmarks backup file includes the number of bookmarks, e.g., bookmarks-2022-06-27_372_hmeY2... where 372 is the number of bookmarks.

If that number doesn't look right for the number of bookmarks that you had, maybe there's an old Profile that you can get another backup from - Enter about:profiles in the address bar and press Enter You should see at least one Profile named default (or default-release) This is the profile in use and it cannot be deleted.

If there is another Profile in the list, next to Root Directory is the path and an Open Folder button. Click to Open the folder and you will see a folder named bookmarkbackups. You will see up to 15 backups.

You can either Restore one of those backups by navigating to it with the Choose File option, or, you can copy that backup to your current Profile bookmarkbackups folder and Restore it.

Hi. There were two Profiles, Default-Release and Default. Default-Release: clicking on Open Folder of this did show a folder called Bookmarkbackups. In that were two items with today's date and yesterday's date. Default: clicking on Open Folder only showed two items, Times and Parent Lock.

Is there an old Windows data file from when you did the Reset? If so, you can follow the same path to an older Profile and copy a bookmarks backup.

Where would I find it?

I think that is what might have happened.
