How to have them show like for other sites like Youtube (which works). I'm using Windows 10, with the current latest version of Firefox61.0.2 (64-bit). The settings in Gmail are to show notifications, and in the Firefox settings as well. What am I missing? Thanks for any help.

Just to make absolutely sure that you haven't missed anything :

https://www.technologyhint.com/enable-gmail-desktop-notifications/

When you checked the settings in Gmail - did you click 'Save changes' at the bottom of the page  ?

If that's not it, then let's try Firefox in Safe Mode :

If Firefox is not running : Hold down the Shift key when starting Firefox.

If Firefox is running : 3-bar menu => ' ? ' (at the bottom of the dropdown) => 'Restart with Add-ons disabled'. Then OK the restart. A small dialog should appear. Click 'Start in Safe Mode' ( not 'Refresh' !)

See : https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/kb/troubleshoot-firefox-issues-using-safe-mode

If everything else fails ('hope not  !) there's this add-on :

I checked that notifications were indeed on, and yes they're all saved in Gmail. Safe Mode didn't change things either. Thank you for the add-on suggestion though.

If anyone else has ideas about what's making it not work I'd appreciate them.

Here's the thing Gmail notification isn't the same as FF notification they use he same word "notification" but represent different setting on their platforms and can't be said what same is cross platform. When you mean youtube notification how does it look like when you get it and how does it look like when you get gmail notifications? See the use of the "notifications" can be confusing.

If you have both Firefox and Gmail set to show notifications, and you don't get any, maybe you could post your question here :

https://productforums.google.com/forum/#!forum/gmail

But would you please try this first :

When you're on your Gmail page, click on the 'i' in a circle, next to the padlock at the left side of the address bar. That will take you to 'Page Info'. Then click on the little black arrow on the dropdown and then on 'More Information'. Click on the 'Permissions' tab and scroll down to 'Receive Notifications'. Uncheck 'Use Default' and check 'Allow'.

For anybody else who's interested : When one has not 'white listed' Gmail to send notifications i Firefox, the Gmail settings will show (next to 'Desktop Notifications') a line saying :

"Note: This browser does not support desktop notifications. To enable notifications, upgrade your browser to Google Chrome."

If this is about receiving Push notifications then you can check the notification permissions in "Tools -> Page Info -> Permissions" although I don't know what domain this is about.

See also "Options/Preferences -> General -> Permissions" as posted above.

Looks like this as far as permissions go: https://imgur.com/a/EVP0Qbl

Does anyone actually get little pop up notifications for Gmail though? This is making me question my sanity haha.

Hi, there are just a few Volunteers that wander in and out as we are all over the world. There is nobody else and the public can not comment in here. Once it is solved then it will be able to be found in search engines but not before.

You are one of the very, very few that want it turned on. Everyone is turn it off.

I have nothing new to offer other than maybe test a new Profile and see if that works but 1st a clean install : Please uninstall Firefox. Then Delete the Mozilla Firefox Folders in C:\Program Files , C:\Program Files(x86) & C:\ProgramData Then restart system. Then run Windows Disk Cleanup. (Note: This should be Pinned and run Weekly, If never done below expect 10's of gig's) Then run it again and click the button that says Cleanup System Files. Note: your Firefox Profile is saved. But you should make a back up before you do :

Reinstall with Current Release Firefox 62.0.0 with a Full Version Installer

If still a issue try a new Profile : Profile : Make a new one and test ...:

If is your Profile :

Please let us know if this solved your issue or if need further assistance.
