Does the browser have access to the web?
What is your home page supposed to be?
Type about:preferences#general<enter> in the address bar.
There are two settings;
- When Firefox Starts
When the browser is started, what do you want to display? Many of us choose Show My Home Page.
- Home Page
When a new page is opened, what do you want to be displayed?
- Use Current Page. Use what ever page(s) are open at that time.
- Use Bookmark
- Restore To Default. about:home shows a Mozilla home page with tools.
You can use any of these that you wish;
about:home (Firefox default home page), about:newtab (shows the sites most visited), about:blank (a blank page),
or you can enter any webpage or about: page you want.
i entered about:preferences#general. that worked however nothing else i type into the address bar executes the command. i tried about:home...nothing eventually i went through the rest of the "about" commands and nothing. also the browser itself doesn't close i have to right click "close window" to close.
Let’s do a full clean re-install; Download Firefox For All languages And Systems {web link} Save the file. Then Close Firefox.
Using your file browser, open the Programs Folder on your computer.
Windows: C:\Program Files
C:\Program Files (x86)
Mac: Open the "Applications" folder.
https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/kb/how-download-and-install-firefox-mac
Linux: Check your user manual.
If you installed Firefox with the distro-based package manager,
you should use the same way to uninstall it - see Install Firefox on Linux.
If you downloaded and installed the binary package
from the Firefox download page, simply remove the folder
Firefox in your home directory.
Do Not remove the profiles folder.
Look for, and rename any Mozilla or Firefox program folders by adding .old to them. Do not rename the Mozilla Thunderbird folder if there is one.
After rebooting the computer, run a registry scanner if you have one. Then run the installer. If all goes well, remove the OLD folders when you are done.
If there is a problem, start your Computer in safe mode and try again.
Thank you sir this seems to have resolved the issue. I haven't kicked the tires on this but at first glance seems like everything is back to normal. Thanks again!
Brian
