Hi Mozilla,

I get the insecure connection screen when I go to websites such as gmail.com. When I click "learn more" under the abbreviated description as to why I can't access the site, it brings me to support.mozilla site and even THAT is blocked and says it's insecure!

Tine/date are correct. No malware or anti virus programs are on my Mac (processor 2.7 GHz Intel Core i5 if that matters). Updated with all software updates.

I have another mac that runs all these websites on firefox with no problem. This is infuriating.

Thank you for your help.

hi kimster521, first please make sure that the date, time & timezone are set correctly on your system. if this doesn't solve the issue (or it is already set properly), a solution depends on the individual circumstances:

  • what is the error code shown when you click on advanced on that error page?
  • please also give us more information about the error by clicking on the error code, copying the text to the clipboard and then pasting it here into a reply in the forum.

thank you!

If you can't inspect the certificate via Advanced (I Understand the Risks) then try this:

Open the "Add Security Exception" window by pasting this chrome URL in the Firefox location/address bar and check the certificate:

  • chrome://pippki/content/exceptionDialog.xul

In the location field of this window type or paste the URL of the website with the https:// protocol prefix (https://xxx.xxx).

  • retrieve the certificate via the "Get certificate" button
  • click the "View..." button to inspect the certificate in the Certificate Viewer

You can inspect details like the issuer and the certificate chain in the Details tab of the Certificate Viewer. Check who is the issuer of the certificate. If necessary then please attach a screenshot that shows the Certificate Viewer with the issuer.

I'm having nearly all my sites blocked, including Google. I've used the "exception" as much as possible, but for certain sites, I get a message that the site instructs firefox to only connect securely and there is no way to make an exception. This has happened since firefox 47 and it's making me crazy. Even for sites that I'm allowed an exception and instructed to present images, I get only some images (amazon) or none. Mozilla only presents in text. This is ridiculous! I want to go back to firefox 46, but i can't find a page. I can't even search with google, etc. My clock was wrong, but I reset it, and rebooted, and it's still a mess.

I also have this problem i have this problem - Mozilla is getting to far in - there should be an exception now button - not taking us down a long path to nowhere. How can I put in an exception when there is no tab for exception??? Let's have a exception now button so at least I can see my own website and home page. You have to trust that some of us know what we are doing. Have a super mode to allow those that know to get thru and a housewife mode as you have it right now. We are not all ignorant.

it will have a reason why all secure connections are untrusted (might be malware, intercepted secure connections, etc.). rather than setting exceptions for each page you should seek to fix the root problem casuing these errors. can you please provide the information i asked about in the first answer?
