Firefox trying to put malware on my computer
Recently i was browsing the internet trying to research .. whilst this was happening there was a pop-up window for firefox saying that my player was outdated and needed to update the player immediately in order for me to continue to use the web page. I agreed and my anti-virus detected malware from the link i needed to accept .. therefore what are you guys doing .. trying to put malware on all the computers that people trust you to provide a search for ??? i believe plenty of people need to know about this as i was fortunate to have protection on my computer whereas other people will not be as lucky .. this problem needs to be rectified ASAP Thank you for your time in fixing this major problem Regards ConcernedFox

Unfortnately today's internet is very dangerous, what you stated as a "pop up" is actually a floating window within the webpage pretending to be a popup.
This is an increasingly common nasty trick pulled by the malicious website. Usually if you try to close the window, it will actually ask if you really want to leave the page.
There is no good option to deal with this as it is completly beyond Mozilla's control.
I would suggest users be very careful of the website they are visiting, and refuse to download anything unless they are absolutely sure what they are downloading.
Plus, like you did, install a reputable AV and Malware protection software.

Well said.
. Whenever you get a message / popup that software / files need to be updated;
DO NOT USE ANY OF THE PROVIDED LINKS
While this may be a legitimate message, it could also be Malware or a Virus. Any time you want or need to check for upgrades, go to the web site of the True Owner of the program in question. For example, to check out Firefox, go to Mozilla.org. {web link}
You can also report such a site at; Google Report Phishing Page {web link} which is the same when done while on site by going to Help > Report Web Forgery
Help us safeguard Mozilla’s trademarks by reporting misuse {web link}
Just because you see something questionable in Firefox does not mean Firefox from mozilla.org came with it.
The popup window could have easily been one of those fake official looking pages claiming insert thing is outdated and download this to update scams.
