I have this distorted Firefox logo with that little creature telling me to click on it. When I did I got the same response as others WASD, but nothing else happens. I have followed the instructions in previous answers and it fixes the problem until I shut down and restart. The same distorted logo appears. I have tried and tried to get rid of Firefox and go back to Yahoo or Google but it will not let me do it. The usual box that lets you type in the www.yahoo.com or www.google.com does not come up. Other than going to the tools where it tells me to go where can I get that box and I absolutely want to go back to one of the other websites. I can't restore my system back to when I had Yahoo because that was too long ago.

That Click Me game is part of the Humble Mozilla Bundle promotion on the default Home Page [about:home], that loads from the Mozilla servers in the "Brand Logo" (DIV) section of about:home. A feature that was first used in Firefox 29 [IIRC] just prior to the start of the Olympic Games.

Also, part of that promotion is addressed in the "Snippet" below the Search Container on the about:home page.

If you want to block the "Brand Logo" section (and the "snippet" below the Search container) from ever being seen again, you can install Stylish and this UserStyle. https://userstyles.org/styles/104673/about-home-hide-snippets-and-hide-brand-logo

Alternatively you can just change your home page at:

  • Tools (or New Fx Menu) > Options > General

If your preferences aren't being saved, please see the article How to fix preferences that won't save as you may have third party software such as an anti-virus that is preventing changes to your preferences. If it is your anti-virus, you will need to temporarily disable that feature before changing your home page settings.
