My add on icons have disappeared but are enabled. They are of little use invisible. What happened?

So I have several add-ons like Ghostery and the like but their little icons no longer show on the browser no matter what I do. What happened to them? How do I get them back?

It is possible that there is a problem with files in the profile folder that store the extensions registry.

Delete the extensions.* files (extensions.json, extensions.ini, extensions.sqlite) and compatibility.ini in the Firefox profile folder with Firefox closed to reset the extensions registry.

New files will be created when required.

See "Corrupt extension files":

You can check if there is a update available in case of issues.

  • click the cogwheel button (left of the Search bar) on the about:addons page to "Check for updates"

If this didn't help then delete add-ons.json and possibly prefs.js in case there is a problem with preferences.

So they are all up to date and i had removed all of them and loaded them new and nothing changed. The thing is I CAN install them, I just can't SEE them once they are. They are listed as enabled etc. Its their tiny icons on the top tool bar is where they are missing and its where they give real-time information on what has been blocked etc. So I cannot tell if they ae actually doing anything.

HI, try : uninstall Firefox. Then Delete the Mozilla Firefox Folders in C:\Program Files , C:\Program Files(x86) & C:\ProgramData Then restart system. Then run Windows Disk Cleanup. (Note: This should be Pinned and run Weekly, If never done below expect 10's of gig's) Then run it again and click the button that says Cleanup System Files. Note: your Firefox Profile is saved. But you should make a back up before you do :

Reinstall with Current Release Firefox 61.0.2 with a Full Version Installer
