Why doesn't Thunderbird sync very often on charter.net?

As far as I can tell, I have Thunderbird set up correctly, but it rarely syncs with charter.net. I currently have 8 emails if I look on charter's email website, but even if I click [download mail] I don't get them. I had charter check their system, and they insist their server is working properly. The emails do eventually come through but it can take as much as four hours to a full day before they actually show up on the client.

This is a known problem with Charter, and there have been several complaints in this forum. Unfortunately Charter are neither willing to admit it's their problem nor able to fix it. You should complain to Charter in any case.
