After flash was blocked and everyone saying to avoid flash, I uninstalled it and did not install it in my new laptop either. But now neither the old or the new laptop can run speed test or watch some videos in different websites. Please help me to solve this problem.

Chrome handles Flash Player differently to Firefox it is built into the Chrome browser.

Internet Explorer (& probably their new browser) differs again and uses a separate plugin to Firefox.

Firefox on Android is no longer supported by FlashPlayer. Firefox Desktop on Linux the support from Adobe FlashPlayer is being deprecated, and for a while now has only been security & bug fixes. Soon it will stop entirely..

It is probably better to leave FlashPlayer installed, it is still used for a lot of things. In your case reinstall it.

However it may be a good idea to leave it set as: always ask| ask to activate

P.S. There are more and more sites (and devices) that no longer need FlashPlayer on Firefo. Flashplayer has been troublesome in the past and many will be glad when it is no longer needed.

But in chrome I could view the said videos and run the apps perfectly without the use of flash, it is just in firefox that this occurs, but I would like to keep firefox as my default web browser since I like its interface and features more.

Some background info

I know some things about computer get complicated. In an ideal world all browsers would work the same way, and that is what Mozilla would like. Plugins just are not necessary on modern browsers.

Big businesses though get in the way. Adobe FlashPlayer is likely to be around for a while yet.

On a related topic Firefox is customisable and has many addons available but we are having to move towards compatibility with Google Chrome's https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Blink_%28web_engine%29Blink system & that will be great for standardisation and cross browser support. Unfortunately I doubt it will work out well in the short term because many long established addons are likely to become incompatible with the latest Firefox Releases

The danger there is that some uses will try to continue to use old versions of Firefox and put themselves at risk of security compromises.
