In IE, I simply follow the follwing sequence: view, zoom, 150%. In Firefox, when I try do do the same, I do not have the option to choose a specific percentage. I have to inclease zoom by clicking 'zoom in' several times. That is time consuming and has cause me to, unwillingly, specify IE as my default browser

Try an add-on such as Default FullZoom Level or NoSquint.
