Hi, Recently Kaspersky antivirus (Premium) started picking up potential threats. It points to files in C: users\lther\appdata\roaming\thunderbird\profiles\tzldd93i.default\mail\pop3.iafrica.com\sent....

I have deleted the files in Thunderbird under sent files, but they still get picked up by Kaspersky. There is no option to delete them in Kaspersky, only to exclude or ignore. I do not want to manually delete all sent files, I cannot see the individual files in windows (win 10) anyway.

Is there a way to fix this. Kaspersky support have tried but no success.

Regards Leon

Chosen solution

If the deleted messages are in Trash, empty Trash and compact it from the folder context menu, then compact the Sent folder. Deleting a file just marks it for removal and removes it from view, but compacting removes it permanently.

Hi, Thanks for the advice! Tried it but not successful...Kaspersky still picks it up. Will go back to Kaspersky to see if they can fix this.

If you can't fix it, note that the general recommendation for all AV apps is to add the TB profile folder as an exclusion or exception in AV settings, keeping the real-time background scan in place. That should avoid issues like this, without compromising the overall security.
