Why won't Firefox load this link: https://www.star.nesdis.noaa.gov/GOES/index.php? This is a government service and Firefox won't connect to the site. It is the NOAA GOES satellite imagery service. Please advise.

It works, but there's an info about testing/maintenance from 1 August to 6 September 2022. It could have been turned off for a while.

I am sorry but this site works fine on Safari. It has not worked on Firefox since an update or two ago.

Well, it works for me. Try to click the Lock icon and clear cookies for that website.

I cleared the cookies but Firefox won't even connect to the site, the connection times out.

You can remove all data stored in Firefox for a specific domain via "Forget About This Site" in the right-click context menu of an history entry ("History -> Show All History" or "View -> Sidebar -> History").

Using "Forget About This Site" will remove all data stored in Firefox for this domain like history and cookies and passwords and exceptions and cache, so be cautious. If you have a password or other data for that domain that you do not want to lose then make sure to backup this data or make a note.

You can't recover from this 'forget' unless you have a backup of involved files.

If you revisit a 'forgotten' website then data for that website will be saved once again.

Are you using a proxy or VPN?

You can check the connection settings.

  • Settings -> General -> Network: Connection -> Settings

If you do not need to use a proxy to connect to internet then try to select "No Proxy" if "Use the system proxy settings" or one of the others do not work properly.

See "Firefox connection settings":
