Currently on version 57 but also experienced same issue on version 56.0.2. Latest W10 version 1703. Examples: - keyed something in the search field on this webpage but nothing happens when I click the search symbol - popup displays with missing information - popup displays for input but doesn't accept input - multi-form input where one entry does not accept input

When this happens I start Chrome and am able to complete the task OK. Have not tried other browsers. I have reported a separate problem on Firefox 57 where the browser locks up for varying periods of time, sometimes 'permanently'. On this problem, it just input not accepted but I can chose other tabs or back out of the function. On the V57 lockup the browser is totally unresponsive to anything thing keyed or touch pad. I see these as two different issues. Had not experienced the total lockup prior to version 57. It has occurred multiple times rendering it useless.

Hi cburch3,

Certain Firefox problems can be solved by performing a Clean reinstall. This means you remove your Firefox program files and then reinstall Firefox. This process does not remove your Firefox profile data (such as bookmarks and passwords), since that information is stored in a different location.

To do a clean reinstall of Firefox, please follow these steps: Note: You might want to print these steps or view them in another browser.

  1. Download the latest Desktop version of Firefox from mozilla.org (or choose the download for your operating system and language from this page) and save the setup file to your computer.
  2. After the download finishes, close all Firefox windows (or open the Firefox menu New Fx Menu and click the close button Close 29).
  3. Delete the Firefox installation folder, which is located in one of these locations, by default:
    • Windows:
      • C:\Program Files\Mozilla Firefox
      • C:\Program Files (x86)\Mozilla Firefox
    • Mac: Delete Firefox from the Applications folder.
    • Linux: If you installed Firefox with the distro-based package manager, you should use the same way to uninstall it - see Install Firefox on Linux. If you downloaded and installed the binary package from the Firefox download page, simply remove the folder firefox in your home directory.
  4. Now, go ahead and reinstall Firefox:
    1. Double-click the downloaded installation file and go through the steps of the installation wizard.
    2. Once the wizard is finished, choose to directly open Firefox after clicking the Finish button.

More information about reinstalling Firefox can be found here.

WARNING: Do not use a third party uninstaller as part of this process. Doing so could permanently delete your Firefox profile data, including but not limited to, extensions, cache, cookies, bookmarks, personal settings and saved passwords. These cannot be easily recovered unless they have been backed up to an external device! See Back up and restore information in Firefox profiles.

Please report back to say if this helped you!

Thank you.

Did suggested. Better but not perfect. Have not, yet, experienced a complete lockup but I do have this undesired behavior which is similar to previous complaint. When I click the + to open a new tab (having 8 tabs open) sometimes, more often than not, the new tab with Top Sites is displayed. They are not active and the whole browser is locked for several seconds getting into the 30-60 range. Then they may become active or stored clicks during the locked period are executed like selecting another tab. So far browser has eventually recovered. Then everything is great, much better performance. As I write I am thinking this may be really the same symptom I have seen occasionally when a popup is displayed with a button but the button is not active and doesn't become active in the time period before I give up. I was seeing something like this at version 56. Finally, when experienced, I would just open Chrome and repeat the process without incidence. I have run all my scans for anything malicious. Seems like I remember seeing something about Firefox and a new update of Windows or JAVA not working well? Anyway, not ready to close this yet. Going to give it a couple of days. V57 I am pleased with except for this issue.
