When I have viewed an email either on my tablet or on my phone it will not come into my email account on thunderbird unless I email it again to my self. I use thunderbird to keep all my emails and would like to set thunderbird to bring in any emails that are in my inbox of my gmail accounts.

Chosen solution

Imap mail accounts synchronise with server folder and show contents regardless of whether it has been read or not, so I do not think this is a Thunderbird issue as you say the mail account is already Imap.

Sounds like the tablet or phone is viewing as POP.

Generally, POP accounts download, but then auto delete the email from server unless you specifically tell it to keep a copy on the server.

So if an email was viewed using a POP methodology, it may not be on server, so any Imap mail account will not see it.

Are you using POP, or IMAP in Thunderbird with this account? This feels like it might be POP.

Right-click the account. Select "Settings".

In Settings, look for "Server Settings". At the top it will tell you the server type.
