How do I unlock the Bookmark file?
My bookmarks were locked after a Firefox update about a year ago. I can't save or delete any bookmarks ever since. Firefox had posted a complicated & confusing process to unlock it, but has since removed it. I can't search Firefox anymore to find out how to unlock it. No useful links appear. I've gotten all of the updates, but I can't manage any bookmarks. Chrome allows bookmark management. What good is a browser if you can't save any bookmarks? It is difficult getting any answers from Firefox. I keep getting the Run-Around. I like Firefox. but if I can't unlock and use my bookmarks, I'll have to switch to Chrome. Never again IE or Edge. This is the only way if at all to get help from Firefox. You can't seem to contact support, but they always need contributions. Maybe the community can help me. Will uninstalling & re-installing Firefox help?

Separate Security Issue: Update your Adobe Reader Version 2015.016.20039 Note: Other Software is offered in the download.
There are add-ons that might do that, but I don't see them in your System Details.

Note: Some software, like Advanced SystemCare with Surfing Protection, can protect files in the Firefox profile folder against changes. If you have such software then check the settings or uninstall this software.
Places Maintenance {web link} Allows to run Maintenance tasks on the database that drives Places, the bookmarks and history module behind Firefox.
Open the Add-ons Manager. Locate the add-on and press the Options button. Then follow the directions.
What happens when you try to save a bookmark -- where is it breaking down? If you have been clicking the star icon, try one of these other methods:
- Ctrl+d
- right-click a blank area of the page > Bookmark This Page
- (classic menu bar) Bookmarks > Bookmark This Page
Does Firefox display a dialog to let you choose the destination folder? If it does, does Firefox seem to save the bookmark? If it does, is the bookmark in the location you specified?
P.S. Uninstalling and reinstalling usually doesn't help with most issues, but we can come back to that idea if the problem seems to be outside of your settings folder.
