Most buttons in Thunderbird do not respond.I can receive and read messages OK but attachments do not display. There's no other functionality in the app. I cannot write, open address book, open Help, etc . Some right-click functions seem to work, but nothing responds when I left click my mouse.

I have three accounts on Thunderbird...the problem occurs across all accounts.

I checked my mouse and it operates fine with all other apps.

I uninstalled Thunderbird and reinstalled it, but the problem persists.

I'm using Windows 10. Thunderbird had been working fine since I installed Win10 six weeks ago--but the functionality disappeared day before yesterday.

Thanks!

Chosen solution

What you describe matches what happens when the update process screwed up and the Lightning addon is causing problems.

- start Thunderbird in safe mode

 https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/kb/safe-mode

- go to tools | addons - remove the lightning addon - restart thunderbird - if you need the lightning addon, add it back at tools | addons

Does that help?

I had to completely remove Thunderbird in its entirety from computer leaving no trace of it and install (not reinstall) a fresh copy of Thunderbird, I lost my address book and my saved emails, after doing that it is now running perfectly. Thanks for trying to help me. Oldeiau.
