At almost every shutdown of Firefox it fails to completely shutdown and when I go to start it up again I must force quit to get it to completely shutdown.

The code says Firefox (not responding)

Do you use the conventional "right-click on App Icon, Click quit"? Or do you open the menu, and click the power button?

Try the other way - see if you get the problem still.
