I downloaded firefox and an application by outbrowse called instac.exe is trying to install on my computer. it says the application is supposed to notify me when any party tries to change features in any browsers i use, such as firefox, internet explorer, google, etc. Is this part of mozilla? or firefox? or a virus? It put a shortcut on my desktop that is listed as continue Installation. It wont let me delete it.

Hello msanders,

It sounds like you downloaded your Firefox installer from a place other than our download page. There are some companies that bundle their toolbars with Firefox which may have been what you downloaded.

Please take a look at these instructions to obtain the proper installer for Windows.

How to install Firefox on Windows

Please let us know if this answers your question.

You should also do a malware check with some malware scanning programs on the Windows computer.
Please scan with all programs because each program detects different malware.
All these programs have free versions.

Make sure that you update each program to get the latest version of their databases before doing a scan.

You can also do a check for a rootkit infection with TDSSKiller.
