Hopefully you will get a copy of this to your email (but we post the solutions publicly so other can find it in searches and use the solution).

To disable or remove an extension (the most common type of badly behaved add-ons), use the Add-ons page. Either:

  • Ctrl+Shift+a
  • orange Firefox 3-bar menu button (or Tools menu) > Add-ons

In the left column, click Extensions. Then, if in doubt, disable.

Usually a link will appear above at least one disabled extension to restart Firefox. You can complete your work on the tab and click one of the links as the last step.

Any improvement?

If the "Remove" button is missing from the Add-ons page, typically the extension was installed externally and often can be removed through the Windows Control Panel, Uninstall a Program. Clicking the "Installed on" column heading to group by date can be useful in finding bundled items that snuck in with some free software.

If there are leftover issues after removing the extension (e.g., home page, search engine, new tab page messed up), please let us know for additional guidance.
