I have been running Firefox for a number of years but uninstalled the programme last week as there seemed to be some problems with the system. I then tried to down load the current version. Every time I press the green download tab on the Firefox page a small pop up box at the bottom of the page asks if I want to save the file and when I say yes it then tries to download but then advises that the file can't be downloaded. This has happened about twelve times over the last three days. I am running Windows Vista Home Premium and am having to use Internet Explorer to access the Fire Fox Web Page

Please ensure that your current anti-virus and/or firewall program(s) are not blocking the download of the Firefox installer.

If this is not the issue, please try installing an older version from here and see if it will download and install correctly.

Warning: If the download and installation completes, please update Firefox to the most recent version before browsing the internet.

If the above doesn't work, your issue may be caused by Firefox files left from the previous install.

In this case, please delete the Firefox installation folder, which is located in one of these locations, by default:

  • Windows:
    • C:\Program Files\Mozilla Firefox
    • C:\Program Files (x86)\Mozilla Firefox

If you downloaded and installed the binary package from the Firefox download page, simply remove the folder firefox in your home directory.

If the above doesn't work, please also delete the Firefox application data from your computer.

WARNING: Removing folders/files can cause damage to other programs and the Windows operating system. use caution when manually deleting folders/files. Creating a backup of any deleted files is highly recommended!
