The horizonal scroll bar is not there on some websites.
The horizontal scroll bar is missing when i visit some websites. Here is one of the websites, but there are plenty of others: http://www.fixya.com/support/t23137801-cannot_connect_android_tablet_arris
I know there is content to the left or right of the screen portion I can see because I can get to it using the arrow keys on some websites. On other websites, the arrow keys don't move the screen but I know there is content over to the side because I can see the edges of pictures and buttons.
I tested two other browsers on the example website I referred to above. Internet Explorer does not have the problem, Chrome has the same problem with the scroll bar as Firefox does.
This problem is tolerable on the websites were the arrow keys are a substitute, but on other sites, it makes the website useless.
I have disabled all browser extensions and that did not solve the problem. Changing screen resolution has no effect on the problem. I am using Windows XP on a ten year old desktop. Windows updates are installed automatically.

While I do not see anything poking out on the edges of that page, I am blocking some of the site's content (e.g., Facebook integration, text-link advertising), so yours very likely looks different than mine.
When you compare IE on the same page, what kinds of pictures/buttons do you find at the edges?
Does it bring the peripheral items in from the edge if you zoom "out" of the page by holding down the Ctrl key and tapping the - button a few times? You can return to your preferred zoom level by holding down the Ctrl key and tapping the + key as desired.

You have solved the problem. It is just an oddball glitch in code of that website and a few others, or in Firefox. Following your suggestion, I used the Ctrl+ and Ctrl- function on the example website. Repeated use of the Ctrl- reduces the content down to a size that can be viewed without scrolling, and there is, of course, no scroll bar. Then I used the Ctrl+ function and increased the size of the content so that it is bigger than the physical screen. At the point, the bottom scroll bar should appear but does not. However, if I keep going with the Ctrl+ several more times, increasing the size of the content, a scroll bar eventually appears. Strange, but harmless if you know the work-around.
Thanks for the help.
