Firefox 91.0.1 keeps crashing - have sent reports every time.

Windows 10 kept up-to-date (Version 10.0.19043 Build 19043)

With update to 91.0.2 was hoping this would be mitigated - it was NOT, Firefox still keeps crashing.

Mostly it is the tab that is crashing and needs to be restored. Occasionally it's the whole browser that crashes (more on 91.0.1).

Up to a few days ago Firefox has bee reliable without crashes

Have done the obvious things to check Windows 10 - like sfc /scannow and dism.exe /Online /Cleanup-image /Restorehealth

Can't seem to easily see the topics posted in this forum/community to see if this has been reported.

Thanks

This is happening quite frequently - just now Tue Aug/24/2021 ~4:30pm - first a tab crash (no offer of report) attached image of tab crash: https://user-media-prod-cdn.itsre-sumo.mozilla.net/uploads/images/2021-08-24-13-32-26-2fd358.png

Then Firefox crashed a tab - but did not give the crash tab message - but appeared to "blink" but came up as "restore down" windowed mode - I was maximized. It was then I discovered - the crash message https://user-media-prod-cdn.itsre-sumo.mozilla.net/uploads/images/2021-08-24-13-36-46-cb36e8.png

Thanks for trying to help, appreciated.

Up to a few days ago Firefox was working normally withOUT any crashes at all.

Two days ago Firefox crashed both the whole browser and tabs - since updating to 91.0.2 tab crashes happens more, but whole browser crashes does happen. I added a reply to this topic but seems to have disappeared after I edited it.

Today Tue Aug/24/2021 - ~4:30pm (Eastern) tab crash with this message but no offer of report: https://user-media-prod-cdn.itsre-sumo.mozilla.net/uploads/images/2021-08-24-13-55-56-2fd358.png

Then tab crashed but before I could react Firefox appeared to "blink" and came up in Restore Down Windowed mode instead of my normal maximized mode and I discovered this message below on my desktop: https://user-media-prod-cdn.itsre-sumo.mozilla.net/uploads/images/2021-08-24-13-58-02-cb36e8.png

I will try Firefox Safe mode, and the other suggested methods, and report back.

Thanks

Initially on opening about:crashes only ONE report had been submitted - despite the fact I know I had responded to submit crash reports MULTIPLE times:

The picture that seemed to cause the upload problem and eventually the posting error. (I reduced the size of the file and made it black and white) it was merely the progress of the memory test: Looks like that's failing too! Posting before I lose everything.

The memory test progress screen ( I do not know why it keep failing to upload - reduced file size, changed it to black and white and even shortened the filename)

I really appreciate you continuing to try to help. Thanks you.

Better clarify things: my header is somewhat ambiguous. It is not if Firefox is crashing every single minute - you probably have already figure that out from the submitted and failed to submit crash reports. However Firefox does crash more frequently than desirable.

Firefox has always been my default browser for many, many years, with the combination of BitDefender Free. Other than a big hiccup in 2018 the antimalware has been trouble free.

BitDefender was chosen because it was almost maintenance free and very low on resources, as well as being one the top antimalware rated independently.

Although I am not ruling out some incompatibility between BitDefender and Firefox - it seems low to me, after all I have many years of experience with this very combination - without this problem, and any incompatibility would cause much more frequent and probably reproducible.

Firefox version: https://user-media-prod-cdn.itsre-sumo.mozilla.net/uploads/images/2021-08-25-09-17-16-940bb0.png

BitDefender FREE version info: https://user-media-prod-cdn.itsre-sumo.mozilla.net/uploads/images/2021-08-25-09-17-25-3f872b.png

I am a relatively heavy user (but not unreasonable) of Firefox with several concurrent tabs open (15-16), often with a streaming TV/video with Locast.org https://user-media-prod-cdn.itsre-sumo.mozilla.net/uploads/images/2021-08-25-09-20-07-eb2e48.png

jonzn4SUSE: I did use SAFE mode - but the frequency/conditions of these crashes is unpredictable. I really could not keep Firefox in SAFE mode for any lengthy period to be meaningful or "prove" Safe mode eliminated the problem. As the ads etc that I have add-on blocker, became disturbing - this is the whole point of using Firefox.

Do thank you for your continued help

Just wanted to say thanks for all the suggestions and help I received. Really appreciated it, I learned a lot here.

It has been over 12 hours of Firefox being active - there have not been any tab or browser crashes or at least none reported in about:crashes.

There were a couple of "freezes"/hangs when I refreshed a tab - that required me to close Firefox and reopen to be functional again, so not perfect - but a lot better than over the past 2 days.

I'll return to update if there are any recurring problems.

Thanks,
