My bookmarks menu has folders and individual websites. I want to alphabetize the folders separately from the individual sites. When I followed "sort" it sorted the individual sites with the folders. It also did not save to my sidebar. Thank you

Firefox will sort all bookmark between separators, so you can place a separator between the folder and the bookmarks to sort folder and bookmarks separately.

Thank you. I placed a separator between my folders and individual sites. I then asked to sort by name alphabetically. I went back to the sidebar and it's still not sorted.

You did use "Sort by Name" in the right-click context menu of a folder ?

"Sort by Name" is only available if you right-click a folder. This also works in the sidebar.

Sorting via the Views menu in the Library doesn't sort the bookmarks, but is merely intended to show a sorted view.

Either way, it doesn't sort. I'm sure I'm not doing it right. I'd still like to sort them. Thank you

There's no sort option in Firefox. Sorting in Library won't sort permanently your bookmarks in folders. This is only for search.

You have to use this extension: https://addons.mozilla.org/firefox/addon/sort-bookmarks-webext/

I am still not finding any way to sort my bookmarks. The extension suggested is not a recommended one by mozilla. ANY OTHER SUGGESTIONS?

Hello EDDIE,

When you click on "Learn more" (to the right of where it says that the extension is not recommended) you will see this article :

(please scroll down to the section "What are the risks of installing non-Recommended extensions?")

Can you confirm that you use the right-click context menu for a folder ?

Only "Sort by Name" in the right-click context menu of a folder (like sidebar and Bookmarks Toolbar and other bookmark menus and in left panel in the Library) will actually sort the bookmarks between separators.

To state that more in the affirmative:

  • Open the Bookmarks Sidebar (Ctrl+b)
  • Right-click Bookmarks Menu
  • Click Sort By Name

Note that you need to repeat "Sort By Name" for each folder.

I don't want to sort inside the folders I want to sort the folders and it does not do that even after doing a sort by name..that only works in the right side when you click on the left side other bookmarks, just as the person above says it doesn't work. make it work. please

thank you corel, I tried the right click on other bookmarks and it worked...wow....sooooo hidden and convoluted....when you sort by name in the show all bookmarks sidebar and it does in the right side when you click on the main folder, other bookmarks, but then it doesn't actually sort that folder afterwards is really crazy.
