I have a windows 10 desktop & laptop with Thunderbird on both. Server settings are identical. TB on the desktop works perfectly (V78.3.2). I also have another Win 10 laptop that works fine.

One Laptop only used to report a server certificate warning whenever I booted TB (currently on V 80.2b2). I could click through and approve it so it was merely an annoyance. However I no longer get the certificate warning, and emails just don't download.

Looking for recommendations to resolve this problem. Thank you

My desktop has TB V78.3.2 and works just fine with security.tls.version.min set to 3. The laptop is set to the same.

Is this a 'self-signed certificate'?

I'm using a commercial Pop3 email service. I don't believe uses is a self signed certificate.

A couple of additional details - 1- TB was not completely closing. When I started up a new instance Windows would report that it was already open but not responding. I found that the service was indeed still running and killed it. This happened several times. 2- The last successful email download was 9/17. I can't say if any updates were done on that date or since except for the 80.0b2 yesterday.

What I tried today- I thought I would get off the beta channel and installed the current release version 78.3.2 It would not open with the existing (default) profile, so I did not open it. I then reinstalled version 80.0b2 from the original download. That won't open under the existing profile either. If I start a new profile I will have to reload all my settings, which I can do. But will the client list all the existing emails, and will I have to set up all new folders?

If I install 78.3.2 again, which is also on my desktop, can I copy the profile folder to the laptop? Thank you!

A few more details- 1. TB was not completely closing. Booting the program would cause a flag that it was still open but not responding. I found that the service was still running and killed it. I reinstalled 80.0b2 from the same download I used yesterday. This would not open under the existing profile either. If I start a new profile I would have to set up my accounts again, which is not a problem. Will it find and show all the existing emails? Would I also have to set up all new folders as well?

My desktop has 78.3.2, If I install this version on the laptop, can I copy over the profile folder?

Thank you!
