Why has the bookmark star gone to the web address box and how do get it back?
The start symbol which is the bookmark control has left the traditional place on the right of my screen and disappeared by itself _ i didnt touch it . Its now found grouped with two other control symbols in the web address box - why is this? How can it be put back where it used to be?

The toolbar controls that are considered to perform "page actions" were moved inside the bar. I guess opinions can differ on such things.
I'm not aware of a way to move the built-in star out from there to the toolbar. There might be an add-on which creates a separate toolbar button for bookmarking the page. Perhaps another volunteer will have a recommendations.
By the way, the star icon's other half -- the Bookmarks Menu button -- has a new design and can be added to the main part of the toolbar. You can use Customize, or the "Library" button as described in the article linked below:
