wordpress blog editor can't see icons...

more options

Hi there,

I'm not too computer savvy but since I updated Firefox I am unable to see the icons on my Wordpress blog. I can see them in Internet Explorer. I have tried everything clearing the cache and cookies....

Hope you can shed a light on my problem.

Thank in advance, BubblesRFun

Do you mean the icons on the toolbar above the compose area? There is about a 2-second delay the first time I switch from the text editor to the visual editor in getting the icons, but then they appear. If you switch back and forth, does that help at all?

I'm not sure what version of WordPress you're running; I think there was an update in the past couple of weeks.

Thanks for replying.. I can use wordpress blog on my laptop as well as on Internet explorer with no problems.

However, When I try to make a blog post on my pc it won't allow me to see the icons on the editor. Which makes it hard to do the post. If I put the cursor over each area it will tell me what it is but that takes so much time.

I know it has to be something with firefox just not sure what. I've tried clearing cache and cookies with no luck.

Do you think I should uninstall and reinstall Mozzilla?

Can you attach a screenshot?

Use a compressed image type like PNG or JPG to save the screenshot.

Make sure that you haven't enabled a High Contrast theme in the Windows/Mac Accessibility settings.

Make sure that you allow pages to choose their own colors.

  • Tools > Options > Content : Fonts & Colors > Colors : [X] "Allow pages to choose their own colors, instead of my selections above"

Note that these settings affect background images.

I can't see icons on the toolbar above the compose area or in the side bars and top bar. I upload a Piture to show what happening. I tired turning off plugins and run FireFox in safe Mode but it still shows up that way

Hi dminor, those boxes with the 2 rows of 2 characters indicate that Firefox does not have the right font to display those characters. One common reason for this is if you set Firefox to ignore a site's preferred fonts and substitute a standard set of fonts in the Options dialog. You can check that here:

orange Firefox button (or Tools menu) > Options > Content

In the "Fonts & Colors" section click the Advanced button, then make sure there is a checkmark in the box for "Allow pages to choose their own fonts".

If you already have that set, a second possible reason for the font being missing is if you have blocked downloadable fonts, either in about:config or using an extension.
