script: "chrome://crossriderapp2258/..." chewing up more than 50% of 64bit CPU time - Centrino2 - Windows-7. Need to kill Firefox, when it happens!

How to fix it?

That is a problem with an extension (crossriderapp2258) as indicated by that chrome URL that Firefox uses to access files used by extensions.

Start Firefox in Safe Mode to check if one of the extensions or if hardware acceleration is causing the problem (switch to the DEFAULT theme: Firefox/Tools > Add-ons > Appearance/Themes).

Thanks for the answer. I still don't understand a few things. In "safe mode" no trouble at all, but I D'ONT have any Add-ons neither Extesions enabled, in fact I d'ont have any extension at all listed and the few Add-ons are ALL DISABLE. Now after resuming in normal mode, not safe one, I still had the issue!!!! So, I fixed it with "noscript" a pretty handy security. Since I don't get the problem from the few sites were triggering the conditions.

Thanks again.

Whatever you have and what name it was installed under may be a low risk exploit that you managed to pickup. It may be affecting all the browsers that you have installed.

IMO, installing NoScript to block those Firefox chrome:/ messages is only masking the exploit, and not fixing anything.

Ok, but in that case how to investigate the issue? Since I cannot get any pointers to any "Extensions" neither any "Add-ons"!

Help > Troubleshooting Information = use the Copy all to Clipboard and then paste in the Post a Reply box here. It would be nice to see what extensions and plugins you have installed, maybe one of us can see (or make an educated guess) what might be the culprit.
