Clicking on the heading/icon makes the drop-down visible for a second or two, then either they vanish altogether, or leave a ghost outline. Moving along the headings, sometimes they displays correctly, sometimes they appear and vanish, sometimes they just show a ghost image.

This is a new install of Windows 7 64bit. Not done much surfing yet, but have been on http://www.volvooceanrace.com which is content heavy.

Affects right-click menu as well.

Chosen solution

Start Firefox in Diagnose Firefox issues using Troubleshoot Mode to check if one of the extensions or if hardware acceleration is causing the problem (switch to the DEFAULT theme: Firefox (Tools) > Add-ons > Appearance/Themes).

In Firefox 4 and later Safe mode disables extensions and disables hardware acceleration.

Try to disable hardware acceleration.

  • Tools > Options > Advanced > General > Browsing: "Use hardware acceleration when available"

If disabling hardware acceleration works then check if there is an update available for your graphics display driver.

Thanks very much, turning of acceleration did the job.

No up dated drivers for my ATI Radeon HD 4600 though.

Cheers,
