When the new tab opens in the address bar it shows About:Blank. If I switch to the IE engine it will download the PDF file without any problems so I'm wondering why Native Mozilla is having this problem opening the PDF file. It's a real hastle switching engines, especially when I'm logged into something like a bank web page because I have to re-log in to the site a second time as switching engines cancels my original log-in.

Maybe the plugin is faulty. You could try using a helper application to open pdf files instead. Check the setting in Options > Applications > PDF file. If you want to have the option of loading or saving, choose "Always ask".

Sounds like Firefox has bugged out with that PDF for some reason. I have found a couple of PDF's that cause this, but one idea would be to completely remove Firefox (except for personal data, eg bookmarks), and re-install it from scratch. This should ensure you're using the latest PDF extension/filter and its installed correctly.

In my experience not every PDF works inside Firefox.

What plug in are you referring to? Some web site links don't have this problem but some do. Is this a plug in problem or as web site design issue. Seems to me to be a site that is designed more for Internet Explorer because using the IE plug in (switch rendering engine) always works.

IMO, it is an issue with the individual website, rather than with a PDF plugin occasionally malfunctioning.

What is the size of the PDF file?

Small, only 31 kB

Couldn't it also be the way Mozilla processes things which differ from IE? It works every time I use the IE engine add on which tells me that either Mozilla is processing things differently or that IE is doing something different. I've heard that IE doesn't always follow the same HTML standards that Mozilla does. Could this be the difference and would it be something that Mozilla could change to process the same as IE?

Are you left clicking the link or are you using a middle-click?

Left clicking. That's what I normally do. Left click works in the IE engine.
