Since upgrade to FX 6, it fails to start between every use, the error msg is: fx is already running, please close the program & start again. I have to kill processes between each & every use of the browser. Running debian 2.6.32-5-686, i686, gnome GUI, firefox is installed in /home/usere/ ............ 2 processes to kill: usere 3684 0.7 1.8 190936 38680 ? Sl 17:11 0:11 /home/usere/firefox/firefox-bin usere 3721 0.0 0.5 52440 10780 ? T 17:12 0:00 /home/usere/firefox/plugin-container /usr/lib/mozilla/plugins/gecko-mediaplayer-dvx.so -greomni /home/usere/firefox/omni.jar 3684 true plugin ............ thanks for your help

I think I have solved the problem. 1 - I tried first removing plugin-container from /home/usere/firefox/plugin-container didn't make a change.

2 - removing gecko-mediaplayer-dvx.so from its location /usr/lib/mozilla/plugins/gecko-mediaplayer-dvx.so did work!! no more problem since, no more processes running in the background after shutting FX.

I seem to have solved the problem!

  1. - I tried first removing plugin-container from /home/usere/firefox/plugin-container with no effect.
  2. - Removing gecko-mediaplayer-dvx.so from its location in
/usr/lib/mozilla/plugins/gecko-mediaplayer-dvx.so  did work!!  no more problem since, no more processes running in the background after shutting FX.
