Unable to open my Firefox prop
I am unable to open my Firefox on my computer because I receive a message saying that my computer cannot find the following file: vcruntime140_1.dll. I have tried uninstalling Firefox, and the reinstalling Firefox. This did not solve the missing file problem. I have tried re-installing Firefox. This did not solve the problem. The file is still missing. When I click on my Firefox App, all I get is a blank screen. I am unable to use Firefox. This computer uses Windows 10 with a 64 bit. I have several other computers, with Firefox installed, and I do not have this problem on any other computers using either Windows 10, Windows XP, or with a recent version of Linux. What procedure can I follow to restore this missing file to this computer? Your help would be greatly appreciated. I have some knowledge of computers, but I lack technical knowledge. Any help you can give will be deeply appreciated. Thank you

These are the "redistributable" Visuals Studio C Runtime files. Microsoft allows other vendors to include them with their programs, but sometimes a version difference or installation glitch messes up other programs.

"VCRUNTIME140_1.DLL is not found"? Install both 32-bit and 64-bit "Visual Studio 2015, 2017 and 2019" downloads, (x86: vc_redist.x86.exe and x64: vc_redist.x64.exe) from https://support.microsoft.com/help/2977003/the-latest-supported-visual-c-downloads
To FredMcD Unfortunately, this solution did not work for me on this computer. I am not certain if I previously explained that we use several other computers, some of which use Linux and others Windows 10 & Windows XP. I do not have this problem on the other problems, and Mozilla Firefox opens seamlessly. I have had no previous problem with opening Firefox on this computer until, and it may be by sheer coincidence, I uninstalled a 30 day free Microsoft 365 to prepare for the installation of an existing Microsoft Office license. I have yet to install my Office Home & Student software. My missing file is.... vcruntime140_1.dll. I also have another problem opening my installed LibreOffice 6.4 software. I am similarly prevented from opening Libre Office, receiving the same message as with Firefox. It states:
"The code execution cannot proceed because VCRUNTIME140_1.dll cannot be found. Reinstalling this program may fix this problem" Reinstalling the latest version of Firefox did not fix the problem with Firefox.
I have no confidence that reinstalling Libre Office will solve my question. My question then is this: Is there a way to download this specific file to this computer? Many thanks for a reply, and I apolgise in advance for being so much trouble. DLM
Like posted above.
You can check for issues caused by a corrupted or incomplete Visual C++ installation that is missing runtime components (Redistributable Packages) required by Firefox, especially VCRUNTIME140_1.dll.
Did you try to (re)install the 64-bit version and possibly the 32-bit version ?

Tequila 1 Message to FredMcD and to cor-el. Thank you both very much for trying to help me solve my 'Unable to Open Firefox' problem. I was finally able to solve this problem as well as the related problem of also being unable to Open my Linux Libre Office software and saved files. I uninstalled my Libre Offer 6.4.1 program, and then installed the most recent verdsion available to me,Libre Office 7.1. Not only did this enable me to open Libre Office and all my files, I was also able to open my most recent version of Firefox. Hallelujah! It appears that the missing file on my computer.......VCRUNTIME140_1.dll.......... was in the files of the LIbre Office 7.1 installation. Installing Libre Office 7.1, furnished the above missing file, thus enabling me to open both Open Source Programs. I do not have enough experience to say that the above missing file is from the Document Foundation, that I believe is open source, and maybe (?) it was not a Microsoft file to begin with. Once again, thank you both.
