Dear Thunderbird Team,

I am using Thunderbird and I am (was) very happy with it!

Since Thunderbird Version 78.9.1 (20210406220621) I am often asked to Update Thunderbird, although Thunderbird is up to date with 78.10.1 (64-Bit) on Windows 10 Home.

Thunderbird asks for Update but did not do automatically, instead I was diverted to the Thunderbird Web-sight and I had to do manually download the latest Version. After manually installing the latest Thunderbird Version I an still am asked every day to do an Update, although my Thunderbird is up to date with 78.10.1. (64-Bit).

I am running a desktop PC with: Edition Windows 10 Home Version 20H2 Installed on am ‎18.‎06.‎2020 Systembuild 19042.985 Windows Feature Experience Pack 120.2212.2020.0

Thunderbird Settings are: Update automatic installation, and use a background process for installation of updates.

What can I do do to fix this problem? Kind regards

https://www.thunderbird.net/en-US/thunderbird/all/ Try to install the full installer of the latest version of Thunderbird and run this file this wil update your complete existing installation.

Using other email programs , try to find out if they all are up to date.

or is it this file : https://download.mozilla.org/?product=thunderbird-78.10.1-msi-SSL&os=win64&lang=de

Hello dear День сумо, thank you. I have done as you have asked me. I have downloaded the Thunderbird Setup 78.10.1.exe from https://www.thunderbird.net/ Then I reinstalled the *.exe Then Thunderbird runns OK Then I had a look in to Help, About Thunderbird, and it shows the latest Version 78.10.1 (64-bit) is installed.

So now I will have to see if the Update-Message way show-up gain. I will let you know tomorrow.

Kind regards

I am sorry to say that I again was asked to Update Thunderbird, although Thunderbird is up to date with 78.10.1 (64-Bit). Something is wrong with the Update mechanism...

Is there anything I could do to fix the problem?

Kind regards

Then I reinstalled the *.exe Then Thunderbird runns OK Then I had a look in to Help, About Thunderbird, and it shows the latest Version 78.10.2 (64-bit) is installed.

But I am sorry to say that I again was asked to Update Thunderbird, although Thunderbird is up to date with 78.10.2 (64-Bit). Something is wrong with the Update mechanism...

At this point, I'm not sure whether Thunderbird says it wants to update or whether this is another program on your computer that is intervening as you are allowing both.

You said : "Thunderbird Settings are: Update automatic installation, and use a background process for installation of updates." 'Menu app icon' > 'Options/Preferences' > 'General' Scroll down to 'Updates' section Select EITHER 'Automatically install updates' OR 'Check for updates, but let me choose whether to install them' uncheck the option 'Use a background service to install updates'.

Restart Thunderbird.
